Pondicherry
Special Correspondent
Pondicherry: The Pondicherry-based Struggle Committee for Social Justice has opposed the Government move to include more castes in the Most Backward Classes (MBCs) list. The organiser of the committee, K. Sugumaran, said in a release here on Sunday that the Pondicherry State Backward Classes Commission, constituted by the Pondicherry Administration under Justice Thangamani, had already identified the classes coming under the MBC and its report had also been accepted by the Government for reservation in education and employment. Of late, there were representations from some sections seeking inclusion of a few more castes in the MBC list. Mr Sugumaran said such representations were made without basis or evidence to treat the cases as those belonging to MBC category.
