Bidar: The Union Government is discriminating against the State in distributing flood relief, Rashtriya Hindu Sena president Pramod Mutalik said here on Monday. The Centre has released Rs. 500 crore to Maharashtra and Rs. 300 crore to Andhra Pradesh to combat the floods, while Karnataka had not got any grant from the Centre. The Centre was playing party politics and this gross injustice should stop, he added. The Centre should treat all States equally and provide need-based support, he said. He asked the State Government to compensate the 80,000 families that had lost their houses. The State Government should set aside all other programmes and take up rain and flood relief, he added. Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy said Rs. 20 crore would be released for flood relief. This was not enough, he said. He thanked the district administration for forbidding the celebration of Sandal in the Syed-Us-Sadat Dargah near the Gurudwara Guru Nanak Jhira. The RHS state secretary Ishwar Singh "Thakur" and district secretary Maheshwar Swamy were present. Mr. Mutalik participated in the valedictory of the Go Raksha Yatra. He demanded that the Government close down all illegal slaughterhouses. Sri Arjun Giri Maharaj of the Ganagapur Math and others were present. The yatra that had entered Karnataka from Maharashtra at Basava Kalyan culminated in Bidar.
