Draw for Haj selection today

Chennai : The Tamil Nadu State Haj Committee will conduct qurrah (draw of lots) for selection of pilgrims for Haj 2006 - II on Tuesday.

The qurrah will be held at 10 a.m. at SIET Sports Pavilion Hall on Bharathidasan Salai in Teynampet.

Pilgrims who have applied can attend the programme.

Revised quota

The Haj Committee of India has allotted a revised quota of 3,381 pilgrims from Tamil Nadu, against the quota of 2,461. About 5,000 applications were received.

A State government release said that Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi had requested Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to release additional quota.
