RITUAL, AS USUAL: TRS president K. Chandrasekhar Rao along with wife performing a puja during inauguration of Telangana Bhavan in Hyderabad on Monday.
HYDERABAD: The large building to house the headquarters of the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) that was inaugurated in the picturesque environs along KBR Park at Banjara Hills here on Monday is rated as the biggest premises of any political party in the country. Designed with a view to upstaging the DMK office in Chennai, the rectangular building has a plinth of 40,000 square feet and 60 rooms apart from a couple of large halls. Twenty rooms have been set apart to accommodate party workers and sympathisers who visited the city. There are three floors and five domes on rooftop. A huge portico and equally tall pillars in the front add aesthetic value to the structure overlooking a gorge. The building is a visual treat to motorists on the sliding road adjacent. The building was constructed in a record time as the stone was laid on April 27 last year. The initial six months were spent in excavation and removal of boulders on a hillock where the site was allotted. Party leaders presented gold rings and shawls to 26 persons, including architects and masons, involved in construction, during the inauguration.
