Bangalore: KSCA President's XI and ONGC registered facile victories with a day to spare in the KSCA all-India invitation cricket tournament that commenced here and in Mysore on Monday. KSCA President's XI defeated Air-India by eight wickets and ONGC also defeated Tripura CA by a similar margin. After Dhananjay and Stuart Binny grabbed three wickets each to bowl out Air-India for 128, KSCA President's XI scored the winning runs in 37 overs with S.N. Ameet remaining unbeaten on 48.
Jaffer hits century
At Mysore, skipper Wasim Jaffer's excellent knock of 170 (231b, 276m, 18x4, 2x5), and his 179-run fourth wicket partnership with south-paw Mandar Phadke (55, 4x4), helped Indian Oil Corporation score 299 in 88.1 overs in its first essay, after opting to bat, against Dr. D.Y. Patil Sports Academy. The scores: At Bangalore: Air-India 128 in 29.2 overs lost to KSCA President's XI 129 for two in 37 overs (S.N. Ameet 48 not out). Tripura CA 116 in 47 overs (Sumit Narwal four for 31) lost to ONGC 118 for two in 30.2 overs (Radhey Shyam Gupta 49, Sunny Singh 47 not out). Orissa 301in 85.4 overs (Paresh Patel 110, R.R. Das 108) vs. Karnataka 49 for no loss in 13 overs. NCA 142 in 62.3 overs (Inder Shekar Reddy four for 29) vs. Hyderabad CA 102 for five in 30 overs. Baroda CA 336 in 96.4 overs (Rakesh Solanki 107, S. Solanki 80, S. Gaekwad 42, Huzefa Patel four for 99) vs. Chemplast Sanmar. Indian Airlines 273 in 85.5 overs (R.S. Sodhi 77, Vijay Dahiya 59, Manish Sharma 43, M.R. Darshan four for 81) vs. Karnataka Colts 46 for two in 18 overs. At Mysore: IOC 299 in 88.1 overs (Wasim Jaffer 170, Mandhar Phadke 55, Iqbal Abdullah four for 86) vs. Dr. D.Y. Patil SA 55 for no loss in 14.1 overs.
