Coimbatore: Members of the St. Mary's Jacobite Syrian Orthodox Church accorded a ceremonial welcome to the newly consecrated Bishop Pathrose Mor Osthatheos, on his visit to Coimbatore, here on Sunday. In the morning, there was a flag hoisting ceremony in the church and in the evening, devotees took out a procession from Kannappa Nagar Junction to the premises of the church, to welcome the Bishop, who is the Metropolitan of Delhi region of the Arch Diocese of Greater India. At a felicitation meeting organised in his honour, Bishop Osthatheos inaugurated the Silver Jubilee celebrations of the church and also the Feast of St. Mary. The feast will be celebrated for three days and will end on Tuesday. It was a joyous occasion for the devotees who were happy that the newly consecrated Bishop hailed from the St. Mary's Jacobite Syrian Church, and was the first bishop from Coimbatore in the 2000-year-old Syrian Church in India.
