Opposition provoking ryots on land issue: Minister
Special Correspondent
Sabita Reddy says Opposition raking up a `needless' controversy ORR junction shifted since the plan affects lesser number of houses
HYDERABAD:
Minister for Mines Sabita Indra Reddy accused the Opposition of provoking farmers and `trying to obstruct' the ORR project. At a press meet on Monday, she charged the Opposition with creating a `needless' controversy when the Government had announced a compensation package.
`Genuine' cases
She said few `genuine' farmers who were affected by the land acquisition in the first phase had accepted the compensation. Those who did not were businessmen with interests in real estate.
The package for farmers in the second phase would be extended to those of first phase. Ms. Reddy said the ORR project junction was shifted to Kishanguda from Shamshabad after it was found that it affected only 20 houses, as against 300 to 400 houses in the earlier proposal.
On the Kokapet row, she said the TDP had no right to criticise as it was during its regime that notices were issued to farmers.
