MADURAI: The Consumer Coordination Council (CCC) and Federation of Consumer Organisations-Tamil Nadu and Pondicherry (FEDCOT) have urged the Government to ban those soft drinks, which were alleged to contain high levels of pesticide residues. This demand was made at a seminar on `Fair trade and deal,' organised at the State conference of the Tamil Nadu Social Forum on Saturday. The speakers at the forum also emphasised the need to stop commercialisation of higher education in the country. R.J. Rajaraman, Senior Divisional Manager, Life Insurance Corporation of India, P. Duraisingam, S. Peer Mohamed, chairman, FEDCOT, C. Packialakshmi, general secretary, P. Puthuraja, vice-chairman, V. Sivanantham, treasurer, and R. Kalatharan, former treasurer, took part.
