Two software engineers drowned in Calangute

BANGALORE: Two software engineers from Infosys were drowned at the Calangute Beach in North Goa on Sunday when they and 10 colleagues went to swim in the Arabian Sea.

General secretary of the Union for Information Technology and Enabled Services Professional Karthik Shekar told The Hindu that the two engineers were from New Delhi and Kerala, respectively. They were part of a party of 14 software engineers, 11 of them from Infosys and three from TCS, which went to Goa for a weekend holiday. He said of those who went to swim in the sea, eight were swept away. The bodies of two were recovered, he said and added that six were still missing. He said efforts were on to trace the missing engineers.
