dated August 17, 1956 (there being no issue of the paper dated August 16): Morarji's appeal

"It is the business of every one living in this new bigger bilingual State of Bombay to make it a success and thereby pave the way for other members of the family of our nation to unite together in bigger groups," observed Mr. Morarji Desai, Chief Minister of Bombay, in his Independence Day message to the people of the State. Like the twin children of a noble mother, the Chief Minister said, the two communities, Maharashtrians and Gujaratis, had lived together and he had no doubt the same goodwill would unite them in their future task.
