`Each district will be developed based on core competencies'

Focus to be on tourism and agro-processing sectors: Kashempur


  • Centre's help would be sought for tourism promotion
  • Special package to be announced for small-scale industry

    Bidar: "The State Government will take up development of each district by focusing on its core competencies," Agriculture Minister and district in-charge Bandeppa Kashempur said here on Tuesday.

    He was speaking after hoisting the National Flag on the occasion of Independence Day.

    "The people of every district have developed skills in specific areas. We will identify these and promote them so that the people can earn revenue and good will," he said.

    The Government would focus on certain sectors such as tourism and agro processing industries. The State would seek Centre's assistance for tourism promotion. "We will showcase districts like Bidar that have a rich cultural heritage," he said.

    The Government would provide a boost to horticulture in Bidar district. A horticulture college would be opened in Bidar next year. The State Government would set up a seed research centre in Bidar under a Centrally funded scheme. A milk processing centre would be set up in Hulsoor at a cost of Rs. 25 lakh. Eight veterinary hospitals would be set up in Aurad and Basavakalyan taluks.

    The Karnataka Veterinary University had set up a bio village in Deoni farm in Hallikhed. This centre would promote turkey farming.

    Plan for Basavakalyan

    The historical town of Basavakalyan would be developed as an international centre of tourist attraction and of higher learning and research. The State Government had drawn up an action plan of Rs. 150 crore. Of this, Rs. 20 crore had been released already. The historical cave temple of Zarni Narasimha in Bidar would be developed.

    The State Government would announce a special small-scale industry rejuvenation package for Bidar district.

    The Government would strengthen the postgraduate centre of the Gulbarga University in Bidar.Deputy Commissioner Munish Moudgil, and zilla panchayat president Anil Bhusare were present.
