GULBARGA: Deputy Commissioner Pankajkumar Pandey, who is the Chairman of the Gulbarga Development Authority (GDA), on Tuesday said work on preparing a comprehensive master plan of the Gulbarga city has begun and the mapping work of the city's boundaries has been entrusted to an agency. The work would be completed before 2009. Mr. Pandey was speaking at the function to mark the inauguration of the first floor of the administrative office building of the GDA in the city. He said the existing master plan was prepared in 1998-99 and as per law the master plan of a city should be redesigned every 10 years. He said the GDA was confident of completing the work before 2009 and get approval from the Government. The GDA, which came into existence in 1988, had so far acquired 800 acres of land in and around the city and formed 11,000 residential sites in different layouts in the city. Over 8,500 sites had been distributed to the applicants. Agriculture Marketing Minister Sharanabasappa Darshanapur,MLC Shashil G. Namoshi, andMLA Chandrasekhar Patil Revoor spoke. GDA Commissioner A.M. Goni proposed vote of thanks.
