MRTPC order on ITC stayed
NEW DELHI:
The Delhi High Court has stayed an order by the Monopolies and Restrictive Trade Practices Commission (MRTPC) against ITC for allegedly indulging in unfair trade practices by purchasing match boxes at higher rates and selling them at lower rates. The Commission had issued a notice of enquiry against the tobacco major on a petition by the All-India Federation of Cottage Matches Manufacturers' Association (AIFCMMA). ITC challenged the Commission's order on the ground that it was in total disregard of the procedure laid down in the MRTPC Regulations, 1991.
