Sonia to inaugurate RIMS in September

KADAPA: United Progressive Alliance Chairperson Sonia Gandhi will inaugurate Rajiv Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) medical college at Putlampalle here on September 27, Minister for Information and Power Mohd. Ali Shabbir said on Tuesday.

Works on RIMS premises would be completed by then, he said during an inspection of RIMS, which came up on a 182-acre campus at a cost of Rs. 125 crores. One hundred and forty nine students were admitted to MBBS here for 2006-07, he said. Collector M.T. Krishna Babu said a temporary bus service was started to RIMS and a notification would be issued soon for a regular bus service.

At a vanamahotsavam programme on RIMS, the Minister planted saplings as part of plans to plant 20,000 saplings on five acres of land.
