Isolated rain in Tamil Nadu

CHENNAI: Southwest monsoon has been active over Kerala.

Rainfall occurred at most places over coastal Karnataka and Kerala and at a few places over coastal Andhra Pradesh, interior Karnataka and Lakshadweep. Isolated rainfall occurred over Tamil Nadu, Telangana, and Rayalaseema. Gerusoppa (Uttara Kannada dt), recorded a heavy rainfall of 7m centimetres.

The chief amounts of rainfall recorded in centimetres are: CIAL Kochi, Thodupuzha (Idukki dt) and Madikeri 6 each, Kuzhithurai (Kanyakumari dt), Valparai, Alapuzzha and Shirali 5 each, Thuckalay (Kanyakumari dt), Kochi Airport, Thrissur, Thiruvananthapuram Airport and Tuni 4 each, Tambaram, Aranthangi (Pudukottai dt), Mylaudi and Nagercoil (both Kanyakumari dt), Kozhikode, Agathi Airport, Thiruvananthapuram, Karwar, Udupi and Sirsi (Uttara Kannada dt) 3 each.

Forecast (valid until Thursday morning): Rain or thundershowers are likely to occur at most places over Kerala and coastal Karnataka, at many places over south interior Karnataka and at a few places over coastal Andhra Pradesh, north interior Karnataka and Lakshadweep. Isolated rain or thundershowers are likely to occur over Tamil Nadu, Pondicherry, Telangana and Rayalaseema.

Heavy Rainfall Warning: Isolated heavy rain is likely to occur over Kerala, coastal Karnataka during the next 48 hours.
