Attempts suicide

ADILABAD: R. Madhukar, a police constable on deputation at Kagaznagar DSP office attempted suicide on Tuesday by consuming acid on the office premises. He told the police he had attempted suicide unable to bear the harassment meted out to him by Chennur CI Mogili. - Staff Reporter

Record hundi income

Tirumala: For the fourth day in a row the temple hundi on Tuesday netted an income of Rs. 1.05 crores. With Tuesday's collection the total hundi income of the temple has registered an all time envious record of Rs. 5.04 crores in just four days.

Two held

Tirumala: The Tirumala crime police took two persons into custody and recovered 17 mobile phone sets from them. The two were identified as Laxmi of Vijayawada and P. Patel of West Godavari district. A case has been registered and investigations are on. - Staff Reporter

Dies in fire accident

KURNOOL: A woman was killed in a fire accident t Budhawarpet here in the wee hours of Tuesday. Ayyamma (85) was alone when her hut caught fire. A spark from a hearth was said to be the reason behind the mishap. - Staff Reporter
