NEW DELHI: Grandmaster Tejas Bakre drew with fellow GM Vladimir Potkin of Russia in just 15 moves to share the second spot with 2.5 points after three rounds of the Abu Dhabi International chess tournament in Abu Dhabi on Monday. Latvia's Edvins Kengis hung on to the lead with three points after defeating Iran's Morteza Darban in just 28 moves. At Athens, second-seeded S. Vijayalakshmi (one point) crashed to a stunning defeat at the hands of 12th-seeded Greek Marina Makropoulou while sister S. Meenakshi (one point) surrendered to top-seeded Armenian Elina Danielian in the ladies' section of the Acropolis International chess tournament. In the Open section, Sriram Jha (1.5) defeated Tengiz Kharlampidi of Georgia. The results (involving Indians): At Abu Dhabi (third round): Tejas Bakre (2.5) drew with Vladimir Potkin (Rus, 2.5); S.P. Sethuraman (1) lost to Vlado Jakovljevic (SCG, 2); Anna Ushenina (Ukr, 2) bt M.R. Lalith Babu (1); Ramnath Bhuvanesh (1) lost to Javad Alavi Sayed (Iri, 2); Sadegh Mahmoody (Iri, 1) drew with Kruttika Nadig (1); Aswin Jayaram (1.5) bt James Coleman (Eng, 0.5).
