Khaleels Pride triumphs

HYDERABAD: Khaleels Pride owned and trained by Mr. L. D'Silva (A. Imran Khan up) claimed the Independence Cup, the main event of the races here on Tuesday.

Fines: In the Treasure Wind Plate, jockey Sk. Farookh (The Bee) was fined Rs.1000 for shifting out at about 300 metres and in the process bumping Mahseer (Ramana). Jockey Ramana (Mahseer) was fined Rs.1000 for shifting in while passing the 200 metres and in the process forcing in The Bee (Sk. Farookh). Jockey Ravi Shanker (Sugar Line) was fined Rs.1000 for using the whip with excessive frequency.

In the Noble Quest Plate, jockey D. Singh (Star is Reborn) was fined Rs. 2000 for not making sufficient effort to prevent his mount from shifting in at the 800 metres and in the process causing severe interference to Mi Jhinkle (R.B. Shinde) and in the process Citi Star (Abhinay) racing directly behind had to be checked. Jockey Abhinay (Citi Star) was fined Rs.1000 for the tender handling of his mount in the straight.
