Dharna against killing of TDP leader

Partymen seek action against DSP, CI concerned

  • TDP leaders allege it is a clear case of political conspiracy
  • Police attribute it to political, business rivalry among brothers
  • Jaggayyapet MLA's name also figures in accused persons' list

VIJAYAWADA: Leaders of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) staged a dharna at Chilakallu on Tuesday in protest against the killing of Marella Sitaram Reddy alias Sita Reddy near Penuganchiprolu in Krishna district on Monday.

They relented only after getting an assurance from Additional SP Md. Wajaid Siddiqui that action would be taken against the accused persons. The TDP leaders also demanded that action be taken against the DSP and the CI concerned for their alleged support to the assailants.

    Body taken in rally

The protest programme was held for about an hour. Later, the TDP leaders took the body of Sita Reddy in a rally to his native place Chityala for cremation. While the TDP leaders argued that it was clearly a case of political conspiracy to eliminate their party leaders, police officials asserted that there was a long-drawn business and political rivalry between Sita Reddy and his brothers.
