Indian carrom team wins five titles

NEW DELHI: The Indian carrom team has won five titles so far in the ongoing 10th SAARC carrom championship at Panadura, Sri Lanka.

The Indian men beat the host 3-0 in the final and the Indian women defeated Maldives by an identical margin to clinch the trophy.

The Indian squad also grabbed the doubles titles in the men's, women's and mixed sections.

In the singles event, all the six Indian players entered the quarterfinals of the men's and women's sections.

The results (finals): Men's doubles: Yogesh Pardeshi/ P. Sashidharan bt Ajit Chandrasoma/ Germaini Gunawardhane (Sri) 25-0, 25-23.

Women's doubles: Rashmi Kumari/ I. Ilavazhaki bt Aminath Nima/ Aisath Sazana (Mdv) 25-24, 25-24.

Mixed doubles: D. Ravindra Goud/ P. Nirmala bt Upali Parera/ Nadi Shani (Sri) 25-5, 25-13.
