`Job units for surrendered naxals'

500 youths get computer savvy under Rajiv Yuva Shakti scheme


  • 1.20 lakh new ration cards distributed in urban areas
  • Tamarind, black gram available through fair price shops
  • Nizamabad police range gets ISO-9000 certification



    LISTING ACHIEVEMENTS: Minister for Rural Development, D. Srinivas addressing the gathering after unfurling the Tricolour during the 60th Independence Day celebration on the Police Parade Grounds in Nizamabad on Tuesday.

    NIZAMABAD: Minister for Rural Development D. Srinivas has said that a total of 1,181 youth were provided with employment with a grant of Rs.6.37 crores under the Rajiv Yuva Shakti scheme in the district.

    Addressing a gathering on Independence Day celebrations here on Tuesday, he said during the current financial year, computer training was being given to 500 educated youth at the cost of Rs.12.50 lakhs under the scheme.

    In an effort to wean away the youth from embracing extremism, 21 surrendered naxalites in the district were provided with self-employment units at a cost of Rs.20.65 lakhs through the district police. He was all praise for the police department in ensuring law and order.

    Vocational training

    Similarly, 1,500 youth were undergoing training in different vocational trades for which an amount of Rs.37.50 lakhs was allocated. So far, in the district 1.20 lakh new ration cards were distributed in the urban areas and 2.85 lakhs in the rural region. To control the price of essential commodities tamarind and black gram were being distributed through fair price shops.

    The Minister in his 45-minute address referred to the prominent achievements of various departments.

    He also handed over the ISO-9000 certificate to the Nizamabad police range.
