Man sets himself on fire

PATNA: A man set himself on fire on Tuesday alleging non-payment of arrears by the Sudha Dairy Project management in Gaya. He later died.

At 6.30 a.m., Manoj Mishra poured oil and set fire to himself before the main gates of the company. The police doused the fire and admitted him to the Magadh Medical College Hospital in Gaya. As his condition deteriorated, doctors referred him to the Patna Medical College Hospital where he was declared brought dead.

The Gaya police and officials of the dairy project denied knowledge of any immolation threat from Mr. Mishra.

The police said it would investigate whether the victim had informed the dairy officials of his bid to take his own life if the arrears were not paid to him. The allegation was that the management had not paid him his dues for over a year.
