MANGALORE: A woman was reportedly robbed of her jewellery valued at Rs. 1.45 lakh by an auto-rickshaw driver and a co-passenger on Monday. Police said Gulshan, a resident of Kotekara in Mangalore taluk boarded an auto-rickshaw at Hampankatte wanting to go to New Chitra junction. The auto-rickshaw driver is said to have taken her on a different route stating that the road ahead was blocked.
Unidentified person
An unidentified person boarded the vehicle near St. Agnes College at Bendorewell. Police said this person forcibly gagged her a little distance away and the victim lost her consciousness as a result. When she recovered, she found herself lying on the roadside near ITI at Kadri and the jewellery on her was missing. Gulshan reported the matter to Mangalore East Police. Investigations are on.
