Impressive show by students

VISAKHAPATNAM : Colourful and patriotic songs were well presented by schoolchildren at the Independence Day celebration at the Police Stadium. Students of Little Angels School, Prema High School, Vignan Vidyalaya and Pollocks School presented songs accompanied by dances. Attired in the colours of the tricolour, the children performed the dances impressively. Excitement was in the air with a burst of colour released by exploding crackers in the background.

The Minister for Commercial Taxes Konathala Ramakrishna gave away benefits of various departments and merit certificates to various Government department employees. Among the benefits are Rs.2.06 crores by the DRDA, Rs. 3.31 lakhs and Rs.4.25 lakhs toward micro irrigation and Comprehensive Land Development Programme by the District Water Management Association, the SC Corporation's loans totalling Rs.25.16 lakhs, aid worth Rs.3.07 lakhs by the Department of Disabled Welfare and Rs.3.5 lakhs to couples for inter-caste marriage.
