Kanna urges people to fight disruptive forces unitedly

WELL DONE, BOYS: Minister for Cooperation Kanna Laskhmi Narayana interacting with participants in cultural programmes in Guntur on Tuesday.

GUNTUR: Minister for Cooperation and Transport Kanna Lakshmi Narayana gave a call to people to be vigilant against disruptive forces and help the Government in uniting everyone.

Speaking after unfurling the national flag at the Parade Grounds here on Tuesday on the occasion of Independence Day, he advised people to take a page out of the experiences of freedom fighters and try to bring unity among people to fight extremist forces.

He paid rich tributes to freedom fighters hailing from Guntur, who played a major role in the country's march towards Independence.

He detailed the achievements of the State Government in the past two years.

He expressed the hope that Indiramma would improve the living conditions of people in the rural areas in the coming three years. Rythu Chaitanya yatras in 1,746 villages in Guntur district had improved agricultural practices, he said.

Awards presented

The Minister also distributed cash awards and merit certificates to Government employees for their excellent discharge of duties during the recent elections and the fire at Swarnabharathi Nagar in Guntur.

He also released a book on various phases of evolution of the present-day national flag. School and college students presented various cultural programmes in the presence of District Collector G. Jayalakshmi and Mayor Kanna Nagaraju.

Independence Day was celebrated at Guntur Divisional Railway office, educational institutions like Vignan, Vikas and RVR & JC College of Engineering.
