City youth murdered in South Africa: police

Staff Reporter

HYDERABAD: The South Zone police are verifying reports that a Hyderabadi Mohd. Hameed, 24, from Shahalibanda in old city, was murdered in South Africa. Hameed's parents approached Falaknuma ACP B. Ramavadhani in the early hours of Tuesday stating that they received information that Hameed was murdered.

According to them, another Indian national Ashwaq hailing from Karimnagar district and his Pakistani wife were held for killing Hameed. The victim's father Siddiqui maintained that he did not hear from Hameed since July 12.

The worried father contacted one Sultan, a Hyderabadi living in South Africa, to find out whereabouts of Hameed. Sultan reportedly learnt that local police there had arrested Ashwaq for Hameed's murder. However, they are yet to receive complete details.

Electrocuted

A labourer G. Mallesh, 26, was electrocuted when an iron flag post he was carrying came in contact with high-tension wires at Chandanagar on Tuesday. The victim was installing the flag posts for a shooting championship to be held at the shooting range on Hyderabad Central University campus, police said.
