Staff Reporter

BANGALORE: The Harohalli Police in Bangalore district have registered various cases, including rioting, causing mischief by fire and causing hurt by deadly weapons, against 40 persons who allegedly set fire to two KSRTC buses besides damaging other vehicles, digging the national highway and preventing the police and fire force personnel from discharging their duties on Sunday.

After a KSRTC bus fatally knocked down Raghu and Lokesh and seriously injured Somu near Kaggalahalli, irate public had brutally assaulted the bus driver, Girish, and indulged in violence.

Police registered cases of causing death by negligence and rash driving against Girish, who is battling for life at Manipal Hospital in the city, according to a press release.

Police suspect the violence to be the handiwork of some antisocial elements in the area, the release added.
