Kumaraswamy releases 30 books

Staff Reporter

Sapna Book House has published them under the series `Ananya Mahila Chetana Malike'

BANGALORE: Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy on Tuesday wondered aloud why he was being branded as the most corrupt chief minister the State had seen when he was actually trying honestly to bring about lasting development.

Releasing a series of publications on 30 women writers at the Gandhi Bhavan here, Mr. Kumaraswamy said baseless charges were being made against him with political motives.

"There should be an end to all this. I want the truth to come out. Hoisting the national flag today made me think whether I was qualified to do so," he said.

Sacrifices

He recalled that several leaders had made sacrifices to win India freedom. "Everyone should, at least in a small manner, follow the principles of the leaders," he said.

Recounting the touching scenes witnessed while setting free some prisoners at the Parappanagrahara central prison on Tuesday, Mr. Kumaraswamy felt that if there were a system to identify and punish crimes committed by politicians, the central prison would be grossly inadequate to house them.

"We would require seven to eight prisons like that," he quipped.

Books

The books, published by Sapna Book House under the series "Ananya Mahila Chetana Malike," included those on women writers Nanjanagudu Tirumalamba, Shanthadevi Malavada, Anupama Niranjana, R. Kalyanamma, Vasanthi Padukone, T. Sunandamma, Triveni, M.K.
