A 10-year-old boy commits suicide

NEW DELHI: A 10-year-old boy allegedly hanged himself to death at his Sultanpuri residence in North-West Delhi apparently after his mother refused to give him money to buy kites on Tuesday.

According to the police, the incident came to light around 11 a.m. when Rahul, a Class V student of a Municipal Corporation of Delhi school, was found hanging from the ceiling on the first floor of his house.

Enquiries by the police revealed that in the morning Rahul had asked his mother Anita for the money to buy kites.

She purportedly refused, after which he went to the first floor and allegedly hanged himself with a "chunni".

Inquest proceedings into the case have been initiated.

Father, son found dead in park

NEW DELHI: A father-son duo was found dead in an east Delhi park on Tuesday, police said.

Bodies of Subhash Kumar (32) and his son Harsh (4) were found abandoned in Chandan Park in Mandavali this morning.

The cause of the death is suspected to be poisoning but it was not immediately known whether it was a case of suicide or murder.

Mr. Kumar, a resident of Shanker Marg area near Mandavali, runs a coaching institute and a small handicraft business.

His wife Asha has told police that there marital life was smooth and there was no financial problems. Mr. Kumar used to live with his three brothers.

Police said they were awaiting the autopsy report to ascertain the cause of the death.

"Contract killer" nabbed

NEW DELHI: Delhi police have arrested a "contract killer" from a north-west locality here.

Puran alias Bobby, who had recently shot dead a youth after being paid Rs.2 lakh, was nabbed when he was coming out of Rithala Metro Railways station here, police said on Monday.

The special crime branch team, who was tipped that the accused would be visiting the area on August 12, laid the trap and arrested him as soon as he emerged out of station.

On sustained interrogation, he broke and disclosed his complicity in the murder of one Bijender after he received the `supari' from the deceased's wife and brother-in-law who had already been arrested.

A separate FIR has been lodged against him under various sections including 302 (murder) and 120B (Criminal conspiracy) of the IPC, they said.

Govt. urged not to seal commercial outlets

NEW DELHI: Confederation of All India Traders, an apex body of the trading community, on Tuesday requested the Central Government not to seal the commercial outlets as it will ruin tens and lakhs of people in the national Capital.

CAIT Secretary General Praveen Khandelwal, however, expressed satisfaction over the reported statement of Union Urban Development Minister S Jaipal Reddy in the Parliament on Monday stating to even amendment of the Constitution, if need arises.

Mr Khandelwal said the traders who are working since decades by investing their life long earned capital are a worried lot.
