Independence day celebrated

Thiruvananthapuram: The DYFI on Tuesday celebrated Independence Day across the State. Rallies were organised at various places. In the city CPI(M) State secretary Pinarayi Vijayan inaugurated the rally. CPI(M) central committee member E. Balanandan inaugurated the rally at Kovalam and Law Minister M. Seminar on intellectual property rights

Thiruvananthapuram: A national seminar on `Intellectual Property Rights and Higher Education,' organised by the department of Physics will be held at Mar Ivanios College, Nalanchira on Wednesday. The programme, sponsored by the Kerala State Council for Science Technology and Environment, will be inaugurated by Additional Chief Secretary and Higher Education Principal Secretary, P.J. Thomas. Vice-chancellor of Kerala University M.K. Ramachandran Nair will preside over the function. A. Damodaran of the Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore; S. Balaravi of the M.S. Swaminathan Research Foundation, Chennai; V.P. Balagangadharan of the Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre and R.S. Praveen Raj of the Regional Research Laboratory will deliver lectures on various aspects of IPR. — Staff Reporter

Discussion on ryots' woes

Thiruvananthapuram: The Indian Agricultural Association will organise a discussion on `Agricultural problems and farmer suicides,' at the Press club hall on Wednesday afternoon. Minister for Agriculture Mullakkara Ratnakaran will inaugurate the Meeting. Lectures on `agricultural problems and alternative proposals,' by C.K.P. Padmanabhan and `suicides, a solution to problems' by clinical psychologist K. Girish will be organised as part of the programme. — Staff Reporter
