Gram sabha meetings held in 337 villages in Krishnagiri on Tuesday Meetings held in 337 villages in Krishnagiri on Tuesday

Krishnagiri: The need for quality education and health was highlighted in the gram sabha meetings held in all the 337 village panchayats in Krishnagiri district on Tuesday.

Budget

Collector Santhosh Babu participated in the meeting held at Poosaripatti village in Kattinayanapalli near here. The budget was ratified at the meeting and various development works proposed to be taken up in the panchayat in the current year were placed before the public for approval. The details of expenditure of various development works were read out to the public during the meeting.

Mr. Santhosh Babu asked the people to take part in the campaign aimed at improving the twin parameters of quality education and health. He asked the villagers to enrol all children in the age group of six to 14 in appropriate schools to make the district free from child labour. All people should have easy access to healthy food, quality education, proper medical care and personal hygiene. Concerted efforts should be taken by the villagers to realise this dream. Panchayat presidents should work in close coordination with villagers in the panchayat to attain this special status, he said.

Clean surroundings

The meetings also stressed on the importance of keeping the surroundings clean and conversion of biodegradable waste into earthworm manure. Removal of plastic waste from water bodies and schemes to be taken up for the development of children and women were also discussed during the meeting.

The Collector assured to provide a computer to Kattinayanapalli panchayat, which was raised by children in the bala sabha meetings, held on August 14. Steps would be initiated to provide bus facilities to the panchayat, he said. Assistant Director Panchayats Appao was present.
