4-wkt win for Commercial Taxes

HYDERABAD: Commercial Taxes recorded a four-wicket win over AP Civil Services in the A-Institution league cricket championship here on Wednesday.

The scores: A-Institution: APCS 146 (Bhanu 43) lost to Commercial Taxes 147 for six.

B-1 Division: Rushiraj 216 (Farhan 50, Md. Ahmed Hussain 60, Sanjiv 40, Ravikanth four for 48) tied with Superstars 216 for five (Ravikiran 57, Ratish 50).

Bharatiya 84 (Chakravarthy four for 14, Md. Akbar six for 16) lost to Lal Bahadur 86 for seven (Ramakanth four for 20).

B-2 Division: Akshit XI 137 (Amir Tajamur 57, C. Abhiman four for 40) lost to Sportive 141 for four (B. Susheel 78 not out).

B-Division (Schools): WMCC 203 (Nasurul Haq 103, Sandip Yadav three for 55, Abhishek four for 16) bt ICC 104 (Shiv Sarat 39, Daniel Paul three for 15).

Comfortable win

Hyderabad Public School (Begumpet) scored a comfortable 3-1 win over Army School (Trimulgherry) to enter the semifinals of the Sachdev Sports inter-school football tournament at Trimulgherry Village Grounds on Wednesday.

Gautham struck in the seventh minute and in the 18th minute Sravan was on target to give HPS a 2-0 lead at the break. On resumption, Rambabu scored for the winner in the 40th minute. Rahul Yadav reduced the margin in the dying minutes.

In another match, Kendriya Vidyalaya (Picket) recorded an easy 3-0 win over Don Bosco HS after leading 2-0 at the break. Pavan struck once in each session and Devaran once to complete the tally.

Match drawn

APSRTC and Mohammadan Sporting Club were locked in a one-all draw in the A-1 Division hockey league championship at the Begumpet Police Stadium.

RTC took the lead in the seventh minute through right-out Guruswamy of a pass from Uma Shanker. But, Sporting fought back well to score the equaliser with eight minutes to go for the break when centre-forward Kareem Nadeem dodged his way into the striking circle before essaying a neat carpet drive to find the target.

With both teams confining themselves to midfield action, no goals were scored in the second session.

Dheemanth moves up

V. Dheemanth outplayed K. Preetham 6-0 to move into the boys' under-10 quarterfinals of the YMCA Independence Day mini and sub-junior tennis tournament at Narayanaguda.

Kalyan wins title

Kalyan defeated Bhargava Chary 29-10, 29-20 to win the Independence Day singles ball badminton tournament, organised by United Club of Malkajgiri.

Hyderabad XI triumphs

Hyderabad XI recorded an eight-wicket win over Andhra XI in the final of the J. Eshwari Bhai memorial State-level women's cricket tournament at Marredpally Grounds.

Diana David, who cracked two centuries in the tournament including one in the semifinal, was adjudged best batswoman and Mamatha best all-rounder.

The scores: final: Andhra XI 120 (Sadiya three for 42) lost to Hyderabad XI 130 for two (Diana David 76).

Other scores: League: Rayalaseema 194 for eight in 40 overs (Mamatha 109, Samatha four for 29) bt Geetha Reddy XI 174 (Madhuri 60, Savitha Kumari 35).

Hyderabad XI 200 for nine (Diana David 108, Ghousia 38, B. Saritha three for 23) lost to Andhra XI 201 for two (Geetha 83, Rajini 56).

Nominated

M. Ramakrishna, secretary of AP Amateur Aquatic Association, has been nominated by the Swimming Federation of India as technical official for the 10th South Asian Federation Games to be held in Colombo from August 18 to 28.
