GULBARGA: Deputy Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa will undertake a tour of the flood-affected areas of Belgaum, Bijapur, Bagalkot, Raichur and Gulbarga districts on Thursday to assess the damage caused by floods in the villages on the banks of the Krishna, Ghataprabha and Bhima. Official sources said here on Wednesday that Mr. Yediyurappa would make brief stops in Belgaum, Raichur and Gulbarga for discussions with officials on the steps taken to provide relief in the affected areas. He would leave for Bangalore in the evening. The sources said that the Deputy Chief Minister would conduct the survey in an IAF helicopter. He would first make a technical halt in Belgaum and after discussions with the Deputy Commissioner and elected representatives would leave for a survey of the areas affected by floods in Markandeya, Ghataprabha, Hiranyakeshi and Krishna rivers. He would also see the havoc caused at Mangavathy village in Athani taluk of Belgaum district. Then, he would fly over the Hippargi barrage in Jamkhandi taluk of Bagalkot district. He would also make a survey of Bilagi, Bagewadi in Bagalkot taluk, Alamatti dam, Hungund taluk, Muddebihal taluk in Bijapur district, Lingasugur taluk in Raichur district and inspect the affected areas in the Naayanpur dam site before landing at Shakti Nagar helipad in Raichur district for discussions with the Deputy Commissioner and other officials. Later, he would make an aerial survey of the Jurala dam and the villages in Afzalpur taluk in Gulbarga district and Raichur districts before arriving in Gulbarga for a review of the situation with senior officials before leaving for Bangalore.
