Coimbatore: The four-day 29th General Conference of the South Zone Insurance Employees Federation (SZIEF) has called for a need-based recruitment of Class III and IV employees in Life Insurance Corporation.
Resolution hailed
The conference that ended on Tuesday passed a resolution urging the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) Government to stick to the National Common Minimum Programme (NCMP). The general conference of the federation also opposed the proposed move to increase the Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) cap in the insurance sector. One of the resolutions hailed the Professional Colleges Act enacted by the LDF Government in Kerala bringing social control on professional college education.
Recognition
Recognition for All India Insurance Employees Association (AIIEA) and demanding restoration of collective bargaining rights to LIC employees was another resolution. The conference also opposed outsourcing of services. Hailing the LIC on its achievements, it urged the UPA Government to pass women reservation bill at the earliest.
