Brother takes Natwar to court over land dispute

Jaipur: Suspended Congress leader Natwar Singh is embroiled in a land dispute case with his younger brother, Bharat Singh, who has taken the matter to the Rajasthan High Court. Justice Ashok Parihar of the Jaipur bench of the High Court recently issued notices to Natwar Singh, his son Jagat and the State Government, copies of which were made available on Tuesay, seeking their response to the petition filed by Mr. Bharat Singh.

Mr. Bharat Singh alleged that three bighas of land that was part of his family's ancestral property had wrongly been allotted by the State Government at a concessional rate to Mr. Natwar Singh and his son.

The matter is expected to come up for hearing again next week. Bharat Singh said in his writ that agricultural land worth Rs 60 crore, situated near the ancestral property at Bharatpur, was acquired by the State Government in 1972-73. The Urban Improvement Trust (UIT) at Bharatpur compensated Bharat Singh after taking possession of the land. Under existing laws, he later applied for three bighas to be allotted back to him at a concessional rate. PTI
