NIZAMABAD: District Youth Associations' Federation have joined hands with the Indian Red Cross Society in raising fund to support the flood and disaster relief activities. The federation having over 3,800 youth clubs across the district will fan out to mobilise relief material. This decision was taken at a youth meeting held here on Wednesday. Youth club executive members and others from Darpally, Jakranpally, Makloor, Nandipet, Banswada, Yedapally, Morthad, Balakonda and Nizamabad expressed full support to the week-long fund mobilisation campaign launched by the IRCS. Participating in the meeting the IRCS representatives appealed to the youth to make efforts to impart awareness among youth and general people about the killer disease, HIV/AIDS. Large scale participation of youth could help combat the disease effectively, they felt. The Red Cross district secretary, N. Ramchander said Red Ribbon Clubs would be opened at every school and college to spread the messages on the disease. He suggested to the youth to form similar clubs in each mandal giving due representation to women members. The youths were also asked to take initiative to conduct blood donation camps at every village as the Red Cross blood bank was coming up shortly at the district headquarter. In addition, there was a plan to organise health and eye camps for the benefit of the poor at remote areas.
