HYDERABAD: Differences between the CPI (M) and CPI State units came to the fore again when the latter boycotted an all-party meeting convened by the Marxists on Wednesday to discuss the problems of the people affected by the Outer Ring Road project. Although both parties are voicing similar concern over compensation and rehabilitation package for families displaced by the ORR project, the CPI objected to the manner in which it was invited to the meeting.
Mutual discussions
It had been a practice among Left parties to hold mutual discussions before inviting other parties on important issued. "We decided not to attend the meeting as the CPI(M) took a unilateral decision to hold the meeting," CPI State secretary K. Narayana said. CPI (M) secretary B.V. Raghavulu, however, said that of late, the two parties had been coming to meetings convened by the Government on issues like Polavaram and others with their own agenda. "When they are so insistent on consultations between the two parties, why did they attend the meetings convened by the Government on Polavaram project?" he questioned.
