The Hindu photographers bag nine prizes

State-level contests were organised in connection with World Photography Day

HYDERABAD: Information and Public Relations Department has selected winners of the State-level competitions organised in connection with the World Photography Day on August 19. Photographers of The Hindu bagged nine prizes in all. The prizes will be presented by Information Minister Mohd. Ali Shabbir at Jubilee Hall. The prize-winning photographs will be exhibited at the venue. The first three winners of cash prizes of Rs. 5,000, Rs. 3,000 and Rs. 2,000 of the three saloons are: Saloon 1: 50 years of AP: P. Yogendranath (Tarnaka), Aripaka Prasada Rao (Visakhapatnam district), V. Peddi Raju ( The Hindu , Vijayawada),

Saloon 2: 1. Environment, 2. Jalayagnam, 3. Monsoon rains: G. Vasantha Kumar (Eenadu, Hyderabad), K.R. Deepak ( The Hindu , Visakhapatnam), A. John (Munsif).

Saloon 3: 1. Rural women empowerment, 2. Telugu culture, 3. Best news picture of AP: C.V. Subramanyam ( The Hindu , Visakhapatnam), G.H. Eswar Prasad (Andhra Jyoti, Kakinada) and K. Durganarasimha Rao (Andhra Bhoomi).

Twenty-eight consolation prizes were awardedafter a panel comprising D. Amar, chairman, AP Press Academy, N. Muralidhar, copy editor, New Indian Express, and B. Rajan Babu, secretary, AP State Academy of Photography, adjudged the photographs.
