Counselling for students of classes X and above

Bodhi to guide students based on scientific psychometric profiling

CHENNAI: A career guidance cell of Bodhi, a counselling organisation, has started functioning at the TI School, Ambattur. It will provide its students with academic counselling, based on its scientific psychometric profiling of students.

At a recent function to mark the initiative's inauguration, Bodhi's directors, N. Rajmohan and Kalavathi made presentations on the centre's facilities for students, parents and the teachers by way of assessments.

Dr. Rajmohan outlined the psychometric tests and their accuracy in profiling the students' interests, internal motivators and intelligence, thereby introducing the students to their inherent strengths and leveraging them to become confident achievers in life.

Higher versions of tests

The higher versions of the tests, applied to college students, enhance their employability with corporate and industrial houses, creating joy and pride in their work. Ms. Kalavathi said a test is conducted for students and later counselling was offered incorporating parents concerns and offering them a chance to equalise their expectations and feelings about their child's career.

This, Ms. Kalavathi said, was crucial in circumstances where parents influenced their children's career choices and helped in clearing confusion and anxiety from both the sides.

Venkatakrishnan, principal, TI School, said, "When children come to X Std and above they are at crossroads and are confused about suitable career choices. They need to be guided properly, in a direction that matches their talents and interests, which is satisfying and which they will be proud of pursuing throughout their lives. Parents such as Latha and Prakash, who had previously had the test administered to their children, felt that the test results gave them a good insight into the personality profiles of their children, revealing traits they had hitherto not seen or appreciated.
