Hiroshima Nagasaki Day at Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan

HYDERABAD: Hundreds of white paper cranes, the symbol of long life and peace adorned classrooms of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan Public School, Jubilee Hills recently.

The occasion was Hiroshima Nagasaki Day and the school conducted a special assembly to recollect the devastation caused to two Japanese cities in 1945 when the allied forces dropped an atom bomb on Hiroshima and Nagasaki on August 6 and 9.

G. Upender Reddy, Commissioner for International Relations, Nagoya City, Japan and Goodwill Ambassador of Nagoya City said white paper cranes had come to be observed as symbols of peace after the nuclear holocaust. He exhorted students to be goodwill ambassadors of peace.

The special assembly had guests from Japan including Director, Asa Bhanu Japan Centre Nagnath, faculty member of Asa Bhanu Ito and Takata. A photo exhibition depicting the holocaust was organised by the students.
