SEWA efforts lauded

CHENNAI : Minister for Adi Dravidar Welfare, A.Tamilarasi,released a publication `Reservation and Concessions for SC/STs and SC/ST Act' at function here. It was received by Poovai M.Jagan Moorthy, MLA.

U. Srinivasa Raghavan, former Director General of Post, said the SC/STs should take steps to educate their children. Only then they would be able to acquire knowledge through which they could help their communities Lauding the efforts taken by the All India SC/ST Employees' Welfare Association (SEWA), he appealed to its members to read the book. M.K.Atchya Kumar, of BSNL SEWA, alleged that funds allotted for implementing various welfare schemes for the SC/STs were not utilised. Most of the time the funds provided by the Union Government were either diverted to some other programmes or returned to the Centre. R.Christodas Gandhi, a civil servant, appealed to the members to use the book as a tool for their development. K.Paramasivam, circle president of the Association, said the objective of the book was to educate the SC/STs about their rights.A.Annamalai, Postmaster General, M.Palanimuthu, president, Dalit Sena, and S.Jayaraj, general secretary of BSNL SEWA, were among those participated.
