HYDERABAD:
Four youngsters robbed a grocery store owner of Rs. 12,500 and 2.5 tolas of gold at knifepoint during the day in Domalguda on Wednesday. The quartet came on two motorcycles to the shop around 4 p.m.
While three of them walked up to the shop owner Veerender and asked for cool drinks, the fourth one waited outside. "They were drunk and I stepped out to take the money when they barged inside and held knives to me," Veerender told the police.
Son threatened
The robbers also surrounded the trader's eight-year-old son as he came out from the house adjacent to the shop and threatened to kill him if anyone raised an alarm. Later, the gang collected two gold rings, a gold chain and Rs. 12,500 from Veerender, and sped away towards Indira Park. The robbers spoke in Urdu and one of their bikes was a red Hero Honda Splendor. Neither the shop owner nor the passersby noted the numbers of the vehicles.
