Power shutdown

There will be no power supply from August 18 to 21 between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. because of replacement of conductor on 11 kV lines at Kadugodi substation by BESCOM in the following areas: Gandhipura, Vijayanagar, Immadihalli, Varthur, Gunjur, Madhuranagar and surrounding areas.

Free study material

Vipra Vrinda, a cultural and social organisation, has invited applications from students studying SSLC and II PUC belonging to poor Brahmin families for distributing books and study material. Chikungunya treatment

International Reiki Foundation Trust is conducting free treatment for chikungunya patients from August 21 to 31. The treatment will be given from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and again from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at 105, 17th Cross, 1 Block, Rajajinagar. Patients can call 23521100.

Last date extended

The Government has extended the last date for admission to first year degree courses in government and other degree colleges to August 31 to allow students who have passed II PUC in the supplementary examination held during July to join the courses.

Key answers

Key answers of the entrance test of B.Ed courses for 2006-07 are now available in the website www.kar.nic.in/nemaka from August 17. Temporary list will be announced on August 25 and objections if any should be submitted to Managing Centres before September 2.

Date extended

Bangalore University has notified the principals of affiliated colleges offering I Semester B.A., B.Sc., B. Com., BBM, BVA, B.Sc.(FAD), BSLPA, BCA and BHM courses for 2006-07 to extend the admission date up to August 31 with a penal fee of Rs. 200.

Applications invited

The Department of Physical Education, Bangalore University, has invited applications from the candidates for guest faculty position with a consolidated pay scale. Interested candidates can send hand-written applications with marks cards attached. Preference to M.Phil., Ph.D., S.L.E.T., and U.G.C. Net., passed candidates. Last date for submission is August 25.
