SUPPORT FOR PEOPLE'S DEMAND: Bangalore South MP H.N. Ananth Kumar (left) listens to the views of Malleswaram residents, led by actor Sudharani (right), on the need to review the grade separator project. Photo: K. Murali Kumar
Bangalore: The Malleswaram grade separator project was in focus on Wednesday again with Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) general secretary and Bangalore South MP H.N. Ananth Kumar inspecting the site and supporting the demand for a review of the project. "A comprehensive review of all development work in terms of flyovers, underpasses and grade separators in the city must be taken up. "The Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BMP) must set up a technical committee for this purpose," said Mr. Kumar. Terming the planning of the grade separator "myopic", Mr. Kumar said that a round table conference of eminent personalities, BMP officials, non-governmental organisations and residents welfare organisations should be held to discuss development work. "This (the grade separator) is not a stand alone project. It is part of a larger project to link all flyovers, grade separators and so on to the highways. Where are the co-ordinates of the larger plan?" he asked. The BMP has addressed the problems by making some variations to the original plan. It is yet to apprise Bangalore Urban district in-charge and Health and Family Welfare Minister R. Ashok of the changes.
