Thiruvananthapuram: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested a person in connection with the ongoing inquiry into a Rs.3 crore-bank loan fraud. The arrested person was identified as Justin Raj. The CBI's case is that the accused had embezzled up to Rs. 3 crore from the city branch of a nationalised bank by submitting fake land deeds, identity proof and income tax certificates as security for loans. The CBI has named two bank employees as accused in the case. They are Purushothaman Nair, former manager, and Vijaya Kumari. The bank employees were being investigated on the charge of facilitating the bank fraud by accepting bribe. The CBI was also investigating two other persons, both relatives of prominent politicians in the district, in connection with the case. The CBI team, which raided the house of the accused, seized fake revenue documents and Income Tax Department seals. The accused, who was in construction business with two other partners, had taken loans in the name of his employees by submitting the fake documents, an official said.
