Cattle menace

The Kannur Municipality has finally begun taking steps to control the cattle menace on the town's roads, which has been posing threat to the safety of pedestrians and motorists. Municipal chairman K. Upendran himself led a team to capture stray animals on Wednesday night. Some stray cattle were seized on the first day and sent to a pound for keeping them till their owners would come to claim them by paying Rs.1,000 each as fine. Mohamed Nazeer
