Buddhadeb rules out ban on colas for now

KOLKATA: West Bengal Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee on Thursday ruled out, for now, a ban on the soft drinks manufactured by Coca Cola and Pepsi till the State Government got a report from the Centre on the question of presence of pesticide residues in these drinks.

The State Government had had also sent samples to laboratories in the State and the State Pollution Control Board and was awaiting a report.

Left Front Chairman Biman Bose said on Wednesday that preliminary reports from the laboratories had not revealed the presence of any ingredient that could be considered harmful to the consumer.
