Letters to the Editor
The proposal to replace the random security checks at British airports with a new system that would include racial profiling is deplorable. Though a fear-struck nation, concerned over its people's safety, is free to tighten security, racial profiling is taking it too far. One is reminded of the attacks on Sikhs in the aftermath of 9/11.
Aditya Srivastav,
Racial profiling will further alienate Muslims who are already unhappy with Britain's policy in West Asia and Iraq. Steps of this kind have not been successful in other places and will not be any different in Britain. The government should improve its intelligence instead of resorting to such measures.
Mukhtar Ahmad,
