Lok Sabha debate on deal likely next week

Special Correspondent

NEW DELHI : The Lok Sabha is likely to see two major discussions next week — one on the nuclear deal with the United States and the other on the Pathak Authority Inquiry report. Parliamentary Affairs Minister Priyaranjan Dasmunsi said on Thursday there should be enough time for the two debates and a few pending legislations.

Leaders of political parties said the discussion on the nuclear deal would most likely be on August 21 or 22.

As discussions between the Government and the Left on amendments to the Right to Information Act, the Banking Regulation Act and the Factories Act were on, these legislations may not be taken up in this session.
