Isolated rain in Tamil Nadu

CHENNAI: Southwest monsoon has been active over south interior Karnataka. Rainfall occurred at most places over coastal Andhra Pradesh, coastal Karnataka and Kerala, at many places over Telangana and south interior Karnataka and at a few places over north interior Karnataka, Rayalaseema and Lakshadweep. Isolated rainfall occurred over Tamil Nadu.

The following stations recorded very heavy to heavy rainfall in cms are:

Kalasa 16, Jayapura (Chikmagalur dt.) and Kollur (Udupi dt.) 15 each, Belthangadi (Dakshina Kannada dt.) and Sringeri (Chikmagalur dt.) 13 each, Yellapura (Uttara Kannada dt.) and Bagamandala (Kodagu dt.) 10 each, Valparai, Kammardi and Balehonnur (both Chikmagalur dt.) 9 each, Thrissur, Karkala (Udupi dt.) and Londa (Belgaum dt.) 7 each.

The other chief amounts of rainfall recorded in cm are:

Gerusoppa and Kadra (both Uttara Kannada dt.) and Napoklu (Kodagu dt.) 6 each, Bhatkal and Siddapura (both Uttara Kannada dt.) 5 each, Kunnamkulam (Thrissur dt.), Kottayam, Kozha (Kottayam dt.), Cherthala (Alapuzha dt.), Minicoy, Puttur and Subramanya (both Dakshina Kannada dt.), Shirali, Honavar, Madikeri and Narsirajpura (Chikmagalur dt.) 4 each, Gudalur Bazaar (Nilgiris dt.), Kozhikode Airport, Kollengode (Palakkad dt.), Kochi Airport, Kumarakon (Kottayam dt.), Thiruvalla (Pattanamthitta dt.), Haripad (Alapuzha dt.), Mani (Dakshina Kannada dt.), 3 each.

Forecast (valid until Saturday morning): Rain or thundershowers are likely to occur at most places over Kerala, Telangana and coastal Karnataka, at many places over interior Karnataka and coastal Andhra Pradesh and at a few places over Rayalaseema and Lakshadweep. Isolated rain or thundershowers are likely to occur over Tamil Nadu and Pondicherry.

Heavy Rainfall Warning: Isolated heavy to very heavy rain is likely over coastal Karnataka during next 48 hours. Isolated heavy rain is also likely over Kerala, interior Karnataka and Telangana during the same period.
